PhotoTime Tuesday - Theme #43..... Discarded

PhotoTime Tuesday - Theme #43..... Discarded

Mother Nature discarded this by our little old apple tree...

just click itin the flood plain, during our annual spring flood of the Tittabawassee River. Just took these shots today. We've had lots of wind and the flats are pretty much dry enough to walk around now. I had a tough time choosing so decided to share the best three.

The second photo is a big old log - probably about 7 feet long - that floated downstream and ended up in our back yard.

The last photo is the ditchline that runs along the north side of our property line. Lots of debris ended up here. Now that the weather is warming up we'll be getting out there to clean it up. The grass is growing already and I want it to be ready for the first big mowing of the season!

Lovingly handcrafted.....

...by two daughters and two of their children for Mother's Day. These are hands of the daughters, the grandchildren's hands are on the back. It wasn't until I wore the shirt that we realized the hand placement! Kids... ya gotta love 'em! It's one of my favorite t-shirts.

clickWhile we were visiting the butterfly conservatory at Dow Gardens, this little girl's mom let me take her photo. She is an adorable little redhead! Don't you just love her fingernail polish? Just had to share.

PhotoTime Tuesday - Theme #40..... Transportation

PhotoTime Tuesday - Theme #40..... Transportation
When Dale suggested this topic i knew i was challenged. Visiting all the wonderful interpretations of that theme challenged me even more. What to do? I looked out on my back deck again...

they're even cuter bigger!

chipmunks use their feet, and claws, climbing up and down.....

..just about anything - trees - poles - bird feeders! Sometimes they seem to fly! I watched these tiny critters yesterday out on the deck near the feeders. They've recently ended hibernation and wasted no time finding a food source. Our cats love to watch them. They chased each other all over and were difficult to capture clearly. I snapped, snapped and snapped some more. My little Fuji FinePix S5000 digital camera has a quick recovery time and can get lots more pics/hour than than Frank's more expensive Nikon! (thumbing nose to hubby) ;-)

click it and see this dragon grow

Mirror tricks in the corner...

...have occasionally provided entertainment for one or another of our feline family as they observe themselves several times over through glass doors of this cabinet. Today i share one of the upper shelves where i keep a few valued family souveniers. The dragons (there are really only two) were designed and created by daughter #3 while she underwent a pottery and craft fair phase a few years ago. I had more dragons including a delightful chess set she made, but cats sometimes are worse than toddlers, so what's left is now preserved behind glass doors.
An Extra Day was on our calendar last month. Traci from Sh1ft.org presented a challenge... do something different and record your extra day in pictures, so i did. Frank and i packed a picnic lunch and took off across state for our first 2004 trip to Lake Michigan. It was great getting out... even though we couldn't get into the driveway at our own cottage over there. The road was so soft and muddy we didn't even want to attempt with the little Ford Ranger 4x4!

Now i'd better get busy and meet my own challenge at PhotoTime Tuesday..... Glass!
